HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This holiday season was the fifth year that the BLUEBARN THEATRE partnered with the EASTERN NEBRASKA OFFICE ON AGING.

Thanks to your tremendous generosity,
BLUEBARN was able to donate $3,560.00 in gift cards this year.

That's a 20% increase over last year,
and the largest amount we have ever collected!
It's such an honor to be able to help support the elderly
in our community, and we couldn't do it without you.

Thank you for all you do to support the arts and others in need.  If you would still like to make a year-end donation to the BLUEBARN, please give online at www.bluebarn.org/donate.html

Happy New Year, and peace to you all for the coming year.

Thank you again for giving and caring,

Susan Clement-Toberer

THE BLUEBARN THEATRE ANNOUNCES
SEASON TWENTY-THREE
"THE REBELLIOUS ONE"

BUG
By Tracy Letts
September 29th - October 22nd, 2011

Featuring New York Equity actress Kim Gambino

This psycho-thriller takes place in a seedy motel room. The story follows cocktail waitress Agnes, her violent ex-con ex-husband Jerry Goss from whom she is hiding, and her lesbian biker friend R.C. who introduces her to (possible AWOL Gulf War veteran) Peter. Agnes gets involved with Peter, who begins to rant about the war in Iraq, UFOs, the Oklahoma City bombings, cult suicides, and secret government experiments on soldiers. But where is the line between legitimate fear and neurotic (or psychotic) paranoia? A powerful play, Bug is a crescendo of mushrooming paranoia, a dramatic inquiry into the boundaries of sensible response and irrational madness.

EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD (AND THEN SOME!)
By Michael Carleton, James FitzGerald, and John K. Alvarez
November 25th - December 17th, 2011

Like an overstuffed stocking hung by the chimney without care, Every Christmas Story Ever Told packs every beloved holiday tale and tradition you can think of into a physically dexterous, comedic romp for three actors. Characters from It’s a Wonderful Life stumble in and out of A Christmas Carol.  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is re-imagined as Gustav the Green-Nosed Rein-Goat. It ends with a frenzy of caroling that attempts to pack every known holiday jingle into a two-minute mash-up.

IN THE NEXT ROOM (OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY)
by Sarah Ruhl
February 16th - March 10th, 2012

A fanciful but compassionate consideration of the treatment of women in the late 19th century, In the Next Room is a provocative, funny, and marvelously entertaining story about a young doctor and his wife. Dr. Giving’s is obsessed with the marvels of technology and what they can do for his patients. His wife, Catherine, is only a bystander in her husband's world - listening at the door from the next room as he treats his female patients. Dr. Giving’s is not sure exactly how the vibrators help the women he treats - but they do keep coming back. The only woman whose problem is not helped by the doctor is his own wife who longs to connect with him - but not electrically.

SPRING AWAKENING
Book and lyrics by Steven Sater Music by Duncan Sheik
based on the play by Frank Wedekind
May 11th - June 17th, 2012

Winner of 8 Tony Awards
Regional Premiere

This landmark musical is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality and rock & roll that has exhilarated audiences across the nation. Fresh off its blockbuster national tour, Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with poignancy and passion. Based on a novel written in 1891, a group of late 19th century German students navigate teenage self-discovery and coming of age anxiety in a powerful celebration of youth and rebellion.

'Bug' is powerful theatre that might make you squirm
by Bob Fischbach | Omaha World Herald 10/1/11

This may not sound like a compliment, but it is. "Bug," an adult psychothriller that opened Thursday at the Blue Barn Theatre, made my flesh crawl. I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Pulitzer-winning playwright Tracy Letts ("August, Osage County") was after when he wrote "Bug."  Full article>>
